Timor Leste Feed Initiative (TFI) is a pioneering Sustainable Agri-Tech company operating in
Dili, Timor-Leste. Established as a Sociedade Unipessoal Limitada (S.U.L.) with Foreign
Direct Investment, TFI’s core mission is to solve two critical national challenges
simultaneously: organic waste management and the reliance on costly imported animal feed.
By strategically deploying a circular economy model, TFI aims to establish a resilient, locally
sourced protein supply chain, thereby significantly enhancing national food security and
promoting environmental wellness. TFI’s operational framework positions it as a
foundational component of Timor-Leste's transition toward sustainable economic
    development.
The foundation of TFI's operation is its core innovation: industrial-scale Black Soldier Fly
(BSF) Bioconversion. TFI utilizes a state-of-the-art facility to harness the natural capability
of the Hermetia illucens larvae. This process involves the highly efficient consumption of
pre-sorted organic waste streams collected from Dili. By engaging in this intensive waste
upcycling, TFI diverts substantial volumes of municipal waste from landfills, directly
mitigating environmental pollution and eliminating potential health hazards. The larvae’s
efficient nutrient concentration function ensures this low-value organic substrate is
transformed into a high-value biomass, thereby effectively boosting the livelihood in the
    communities and national health.
