瓦爾多(Waldo) 曾撰：「組織理論：瞎子摸象的問題」(Organization Theory: A

Elephantine Problem ; 1961) 、「組織理論：瞎子摸象的重遊」(Organization

Theory : Revising the Elephant ; PAR : 1978)二文，描述當時的組織研究充斥

著時代的流行性、異質性，不同的主張和反主張(counterclaims) ，其實，這種研

究的多元現象恰好說明了社會組織之行動由於變遷十分快速複雜，並非以經驗的法

則就可完全地預測、控制與解釋，故而組織研究不可能有一種研究途徑或理論能夠

涵蓋整個所欲探析的組織問題與現象，換言之，組織理論之領域沒有一統江湖的典

範，而是存在著多元典範並置的局面。近十年來探研組織理論的佳作，諸如：布瑞

爾及摩根(Burell & Morgon ，1979)合著之《社會學典範與組織分析》；丹哈特 (

Denhardt，1984) 的《公共組織理論》；哈門及梅爾(Harman & Mayer，1986)之《

公共行政的組織理論》；摩根(1986)之《組織影像》等均進一步地指出組織理論確

實存在著多元典範並置的局面，並揭示未來組織理論的研究必須具備實證的、解釋

的、批判的三種途徑才是健全的組織建構。

再者，二十（本）世紀初，由於愛因斯坦(Albert Einstein) 的「相對論」(Rela-

tivity Theory)、海森堡(Werner Heisehberg)的「量子力學」(Quantum Mechanics

) 、和普里高津(Ilya Prigogine)的「混沌理論」(Chaos Theory)所形成物理學新

典範，在基本預設上有下列變遷的趨勢：1.從物質是靜態的構造到物質是動態的存

在趨勢；2.從時空的絕對性到時空的相對性；3.從因果的決定論到因果的機率論；

4.從機械的化約主義到有機的全像圖；5.從強調理性思考的直線關係到重視直觀智

慧非性線的生態體悟；6.從心物二元的主客分離到心物一元的主客交融，此對今後

組織理論研究的影響必然是至深且鉅的，故以新物理典範觀從事動態的不穩定之非

均衡組織理論的分析，是組織理論研究應予以重視與開墾的新領域及新方向。

因此，本研究根據傑恩區(Jantsch) 就自然系統的科學觀所出現的三個變動型模劃

分成三個組織理論時期－－傳統、均衡與非均衡，並運用新物理學典範的觀點來審

視傳統和均衡時期重要的組織理論之貢獻與限制，以及引介深受新物理學典範影響

之全像圖組織理論的研究內容與實際應用之結果，且從中發現或解決過去理論未能

見的盲點或缺失，最後，試圖採行饋恩(Quinn) 的演化循環圈和競對價值模式，為

傳統、均衡及非均衡時期的組織理論搭起互通與整合的參照途徑或橋樑。

PS. 本論文於口試時，承蒙口試老師指教以下諸項問題，實值得再深入討論及研究

：

1.不同典範間是否因具「不可共量性」(incommensurability)，而不能也不該整合

？

2.「島嶼論」(Islands of theory) 中的「島嶼」間應如何搭起互通的橋樑，本論

文所引用的「競對價值模式」及「演化循環圈」是否能擔負此重任。

3.均衡與非均衡組織理論間的關係是否為：“抽刀斷水，水更流”呢？像均衡時期

的系統研究法與非均衡時期的全像圖組織理論間是否有許多雷同之所？
