摘要
本研究旨在了解當前台灣省國民小學輔導主任的角色期望和專業教育的意見。同時取得輔導主任的一般資料，根據研究結果提出建議。
本研究採問卷調查法，以自編問卷為調查工具。研究對象限於在「台灣省國民小學輔導主任甄選儲訓」的甄選過程上，取得輔導主任資格，而目前仍服務本職者。所屬學校之校長亦為調查對象。所得資料利用卡方檢定，平均數差異考驗，等級相關等統計方法進行分析。
經實證分析後，本研究有下列發現:
l.國小輔導主任以男性;年資十五年至二十年;師專畢業的教育背景;任教於都市地區;學校規模在二十五班至五十班;專業知能來自板橋研習會;目前有轉任意願的輔導主任較多。
2.轉任者認為:「輔導人員編制不足」與「輔導工作者的積分和升遷機會較其他處主任差」是促其轉任的兩個主要因素。
3.輔導主任和校長認為「為學校教職員舉辦學校研習會，使其明瞭輔導工作的理論和實際」是最為重要的工作項目。輔導主任在「諮詢」角色上期望最高，校長則看重「協調與行政」的角色。擔負學校一般行政，皆被視為不重要的工作。主
任對於專業角色的期望，高於校長。
4.不同性別、年資、教育背景、任教地區、學校規模、專業知能來源、轉任意願之工作項目次序的等級相關，皆達顯著水準。女輔導主任對於角色期望的重要程度，高於男輔導主任。
5.所受之專業教育在執行「研擬學校輔導工作計劃及行事曆」上」，最為滿意。而「對特殊學生的家長提供個別或團體諮商」感到最不滿意。以「協調與行政」的課程滿意度較高，「課程設計」最低。整體而言，滿意程度皆偏低。
6.不同教育背景和專業知能來源與專業教育的滿意程度較有關係。本科系者高於師專畢業者，知能來自畢業學校高於板橋研習會者。
本研究的建議:1.輔導主任甄選辦法應強調具有專業教育的資格。2.板橋儲訓班應定位在職前教育和在職進修的功能。3.在學校內主動釐清專業角色的任務內容。4.培養國小輔導人員的專業課程，應兼顧小學環境特質，配合小學課程發展。
