本研究先就會計師管理顧問服務的性質、背景及其演進的過程做一概略的描述，然後在理論的基礎上，一邏輯推理，評論會計師是否適時為其查帳客戶及一班企業團體提共管理顧問服務，此舉對於會計師所應具有的超然獨立性，以及所應遵守的職業道德規範，會不會造成不良的影響，予以客觀的檢討。接著就會計書所具有的專業知識與才能，評估其是否足堪勝任一丹的管理顧問服務工作，如有不足應如何補救。最後根據我國國情與環境，為我國會計師提供管理顧問服務找尋出一條坦程大道。

本研究共設計有三組不同的問卷，調查訪問的對象分別為:(1)財務報表使用人，(2)工商企業高級主管，(3)會計師。
為了瞭解會計師從事管理顧問服務對查帳獨立性的影響，及有關人士是否因此降低對會計師的信任，並決定會計師應以什麼上從事管理顧問服務比較妥當，所以第一組問卷便是調查與上述問題最具密切關係的人。其次為了解國內工商企業界對管理顧問服務的評價及需求情形，因此設計第二組問卷。最後為了瞭解目前我會計師從事管理顧問服務的情形，設計第三組問卷。
