This study examines how online environments serve as a digital "third space" for transracial adoptees navigating the complexities of race, heritage, and kinship. Moving beyond traditional offline interventions, this research establishes a dialogue with the Cultural-Racial Identity Model (CRIM) and the Cognitive-Developmental Model of Social Identity Integration (CDSMII) to evaluate how digital environments shape modern transracial adoptee identities. The study investigates identity struggle across three dimensions: emotional affect relative to birth family reunion status (RQ1), the interplay of interpersonal racism and identity struggle (RQ2), and thematic narrative shifts across different reunion statuses (RQ3). Using the Reddit API, a data corpus of N=564 text units was collected from the subreddit r/TransracialAdoptees. Quantitative macro-patterns from Pearson's Chi-squared and Fisher's exact tests were integrated with Norman Fairclough's three-dimensional Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA). The empirical results reveal that birth family contact is not a predictor of emotional affect, exposing an internal ambivalence where positive affect reflects reclaimed agency and negative affect highlights systemic language erasure. A highly significant correlation exists between interpersonal racism and identity struggle, manifesting inductively across public microaggressions, familial colorblind minimization, and peer-level ethnic gatekeeping. Finally, while macro-frequencies of identity struggle remain static before and after contact (p=1), the narrative themes shift from passive genealogical bewilderment to active boundary negotiation. Ultimately, this study engages with existing developmental models to show that when physical environments enforce colorblind erasure, transracial adoptees can use digital third spaces to resist institutional scripts, find community, validate collective grief, and work toward integrated, bicultural-biracial self-concepts.
