敬畏是近年來被積極研究的正向情緒之一,具促進個體身心健康與社會整合的潛力。過去研究在誘發敬畏的方法包含了回憶過往經歷、文字情境或影片的刺激、或是實際場景的體驗。而近幾年來,因為科技的進步,讓研究者得以透過虛擬場景及頭戴式顯示器重現壯闊場景,以提高情緒誘發的真實感與實驗控制的程度。然而目前虛擬場景誘發敬畏的方式仍以自然場景為主,並且這些實證研究中,調適需求也相對較不易被觀察到,因此有必要尋找新的誘發敬畏的方法,並進一步釐清調適需求在敬畏體驗中的角色。此外,多數敬畏研究都以感知廣大性與調適需求兩大認知評估作為主要的研究架構,較少討論到刺激是否帶來敬畏感受。
有鑑於此,本研究提出「微小生物視角」作為一種誘發敬畏的可能途徑,並檢驗這種視角改變是否能引發敬畏情緒、感知廣大性與調適需求,及其後續對利社會行為與自我進步動機之影響。本研究採混合實驗設計,將視角改變與空間臨場感作為組間因子,不同場景(自然場景與非自然場景)作為組內因子,探討一般人類視角與微小生物視角在不同空間臨場感與場景條件的心理效果。
結果顯示,微小生物視角確實能提升感知廣大性,但對調適需求與敬畏情緒的效果會受到不同場景所影響。本研究也發現感知廣大性是促成利社會行為與自我進步動機重要的心理機制,但調適需求的中介效果相對不穩定。而空間臨場感並不具有調節效果,但對感知廣大性有直接正向影響。顯示高沈浸媒介可能因為視野開闊強化了個體對環境規模的感知。整體而言,本研究不僅驗證視角改變能作為一種敬畏體驗,同時也為調適需求在敬畏體驗中的重要性提供間接支持。
