民國六十六年十一月十九日,台灣省五項地方公職人員選舉接近尾聲之際,桃園縣的中壢市,不幸發生大規模的暴力事件;當時,作者適服役軍中,一再地反覆思索,深感此一問題的重要性,引發了暴力研究的興趣。進入研究所就讀後,因選修有關政治發展的課程,益愈覺得從政治發展的觀點出發,分析暴力的問題,必是一件相當有意義的工作,乃著手進行本研究。
本論文之主要研究目的,乃在於根據Huntington所陳述的理論,深入探討發展中國家暴力的相關問題;其分析架構如下:
第一章:導論。先探討當代暴力研究的理論與實際;並解析暴力的內涵;再分析社會變遷與暴力的關係;後敍述本論文的研究架構與策略。
第二章:政治參與與暴力。首先槪述政治參與的角色;並解析政治參與的內涵;再分析社會變遷與政治參與的關係;最後,比較分析政治參與與暴力的關係。
第三章:政治制度化與暴力。首先槪述政治制度化的角色;並解析政治制度化的內涵;再深討社會變遷與政治制度化的關係;最後,比較分析政治制度化與暴力的關係。
第四章:政治參與、政治制度化之差距與暴力。先敍述差距假設的意養;後比較分析政治參與、政治制度化之差距與暴力的關係。
第五章:結論。扼要敍述本論文的研究結果;並檢討缺失,提示未來研究的努力方向。
