Public relations industry is a female-dominated field, making gender issues an important research topic —particularly the underrepresentation of women in public relations leadership roles. Previous studies have explored gender differences in leadership styles or women’s perceptions of public relations leaders, but they mainly focused on Western contexts. To address the gap, in-depth interviews were conducted in this study to investigate how public relations managers in Taiwan conceive leadership. The perspectives of male and female managers were found to be different, which offers a new socio-cultural lens for gender and leadership research in public relations.
