本文是以台灣為例探討台灣的政治變遷與外資的關係。

在台灣的經濟發展過程中，外資扮演了一個重要的角色。外資對台灣經濟發展的貢獻，經濟學者已有深入的探討、研究，成果也甚為豐碩。筆者在本文中則是想從一全新的角度:台灣的政治變遷，來探討在政治變遷的脈絡中，外資所處的地位。例如:外資廠商如何評估台灣的政治環境，台灣之引進外資是否有特殊的政治考慮，台灣的政治變遷對外資的影響等。

本文分為五章，十二節，共計六萬餘字。

第一章緒論部份，共分三節，分別敘述研究動機與目的，文獻探討以及研究架構與方法。

第二章探討台灣的外資。首先分析規範外資的相關投資法令，其次概括說明台灣的投資環境，最後則分別敘述外資的來源地與投資業別分布。

第三章探討外資的政治因素，首先分析外資與政治變遷的互動關係，次就投資的政治風險概念予詳細的說明，最後則從歷史－結構的角度來觀察台灣引進外資的政治考慮。

第四章，台灣的政治變遷對外人投資的影響，是本文的重點所在。首先對於台灣的政治變遷，尤其在國民黨－黨威權的長期統治下，所展現的特殊面貌予以適度的描繪，其次將台灣的政治變遷予以指標化，並設定假設，檢驗台灣的政治變遷對外資的影響。事實證明。外資在不同時期的數量變化，主要仍受非政治因素機動所左右，政治變遷雖亦有影響，充其量只是必要條件。政治變遷與外資的因果關係並不明顯。

第五章結論部份，包括對本文的綜合評述，研究架構與方法的檢討以及對未來研究的建議。
