本研究的主要目的在探討產序、社經地位、父母教養方式與兒童創造行為的關係。整個研究分下列兩個部分來探討：(1)產序和社經地位（父母教育程度、職業聲望、經濟地位）對兒童創造行為的影響；(2)社經地位不同的父母對待不同產序子女的教養方式與兒童創造行為的關係。
本研究是根據木柵國中一年級學生278人在「家庭背景問卷」、「親子（父子和母子）關係問卷」、拓蘭新語文和圖形創造思考測驗上所填答的資料，進行分析，結果發現：
(1)長子女、居中子女、幼子女在創造思考各變項分數上都沒有顯著差異。
(2)父母教育程度高的子女在語文流暢、變通、總分及創造總分等顯著的高於父母教育程度低的子女；父母職業聲望高的子女在語文流暢、變通、總分等顯著高於父母職業聲望低的子女；而經濟地位高和低的子女在語文創造思考各變項分數之差異未達顯著水準。此外，父母教育程度高的子女在圖形精密上顯著的高於父母教育程度低的子女，而職業聲望、經濟地位的高低在圖形創造思考各變項分數上都沒有顯著差異。
(3)社經地位（父母教育程度、職業聲望、經濟地位）與子女產序在創造思考各變項分數上沒有顯著交互影響。
(4)除了教育程度高、職業聲望高的父親對待長子女，職業聲望低、經濟地位低的父親對待幼子女，經濟地位低的母親對待長子女等的教養方式與創造思考各變項分數都沒有顯著相關外，其餘各種教養方式與創造思考都有或多或少的顯著相關：○1積極的親子關係如愛、獎勵（精神的和物質的）與創造思考各變項分數成正相關；而寬鬆與創造思考有正相關，也有負相關，寬鬆大抵與圖形創造各變項分數有正相關。○2消極的親子關係，如忽視，與創造思考各變項分數都有負相關；而拒絕、懲罰（精神的和物質的）等與創造思考各變項分數有正相關，也有負相關。○3保護大抵與圖形創造思考有正相關，和語文創造思考則有正相關，也有負相關。○4命令也大抵與圖形創造有正相關，在語文創造則有正相關，也有負相關。
(5)父母的教養方式與兒童創造思考的相關隨父母社經地位與子女產序而異。
本研究根據上述研究的結果作了解釋和討論，並提出進一步研究的問題與建議，以作為家庭和學校教育人員的參考。
