提要

不論中西，「政治」一詞出現在言談之中總是帶有濃厚的價值味道，它是剛猛的，它是善變的，它是高度技巧的，它是敗壞品德的；若登高鳥瞰，到處都是管制管理，若居窪仰望，四下又皆為服從效忠，一高一低之見是兩種截然不同的景觀，學者們就之而深入探討，也得到兩種性質迥異的結論，以二字來代表，前者是「權力」（power），後者是「支持」（support）。有鑑於學界對權力的研究歷史悠久，成果豐碩，不容再來錦上添花，而支持的理論晚近才起，為數有限，筆者或忒不知羞，妄想攀躋前綫研究作個尖兵，大膽地選擇政治支持作為論文對象；又因為本身末學膚受而政治支持範圍廣博，通盤研究非力所及，斟酌推敲之後，決以「定向支持」作專精課題，其他「行動支持」一槪棄之不顧，如此卒獲於成。

本文命名「政治合法性之分析」，主要是擷取濃縮各家各派對政治合法性的看法，排列比較之中並加評論，總計四萬餘字，分為七章，各章槪要內容如下。

第一章緒論。指出實際生活中政治合法性的意義。

第二章古典的研究。分別敍述對此問題研究早期使用的兩種方法，(1)法律研究法。(2)哲學研究法。

第三章政治合法性的涵義。先將政治合法性與易混淆的兩個名詞「政治認同」和「統治權」作一區別，然後再給它下一個確定的界說。

第四章政治合法性的目標和種類。政治合法性有二目標，卽統治典則和統治者；政治合法性有三種類，卽意理式、制度式和人物式。

第五章政治合法性的理論。介紹韋柏、費里羅和伊士頓三位代表人物的理論。

第六章政治合法性的危機。現代化帶來價值系統的迅速變遷，世界各地普遍存在著樹立合法性的困難。

第七章結論。檢討政治合法性的研究成果，建議採用「政治社會化」作更深入的追踪研究。
