近代中國受日本之影響極大，不論就歷史或地綠關係言，都值得我們重視日本未來的發展。基於這個原因，我從大學的時候開始，就一直希望以「日本」做為以後學習和研究的對象。

由於二次大戰後日本國家安全建立在「日美安保體制」之基礎上，因此，我以它做為論文的研究題目。在這裏，我為「日美安保體制」下的定義是：「日美兩國間以日美安保條約為主幹的安全關係」。

本文的研究方法採「歷史研究法」、「內容分析」與「功能分析」中的「系統影響研究法」( System-- Affecting Approach)。全文約七萬字，共分五章十四節討論。

第一章說明日美安保體制形成之背景。以戰後美國的對日政策與日本的防衛政策內容為討論重點。

第二章先敘述一九五一年和一九六○年兩項日美安保條約的交涉過程，然後再詳細分析條約之內容。另外，就日美兩國在一九五○年代中期，對如何強化「日美安保體制」所做的努力，作一個說明。
