Taiwan has been famous for its national health insurance (NHI) system providing abundant medical resources and the high-quality service. However, the current NHI system and medical environment do not help proper medical resource utilization. Many have the mindset to receive treatment in hospitals rather than local primary clinics. In addition, the business model of the most primary clinics do not fully carry out their roles in taking care of patient’s holistic care as they should be. We also find that there is a growing need that people seek professional consultation on their daily-life healthcare issues.
The motivation for opening MediFriend Clinic is to build up a new business model with the help of technology to extend our care to patients’ daily life. In MediFriend Clinic, we not only diagnose illness like other clinics do but also make it a place where people can track their overall health status. MedicFriend also does remote care and offer advices for patients’ daily health problems. We believe that this new type of service fits the needs and fulfills the purpose of primary care.
