民國四十一年，先總統蔣公指示成立中國青年反共救國團，以號召全國青年在三民主義的旗幟下，貢獻智慧，發揮力量，共同為爭取國家生存、民族自由，矢志團結奮鬥。
多年來，救國團抱著「我們為青年服務，青年為國家服務」的原則，推動許多極有意義的活動，假期青年自強活動是規模最大、收效最宏的活動，在提倡青年正當休閒活動，導正青年身心健全方面有不可泯滅的功能。筆者對我國政治社會化的運行向極注意，認為像救國團這樣的機構，每年花費龐大的人力、物力來舉辦大規模的自強活動，若能發揮「寓政治教育於育樂活動」的效果，不僅這項活動更具意義，對國家民主憲政的發展也將有不可沒之功，因此決定探討這項活動的政治社會化功能，而以大學生為對象，分為實驗、控制兩組進行經驗性的研究。
本文計分六章。第一章說明研究的動機在彰顯自強活動的政治社會化功能，並根據相關的理論型塑研究架構、界定基本槪念、提出各項假設及研究方法，以進行研究。
第二章探討大學生第一次接受問卷調查後所反應出來的政治態度，以描述性的統計方法分別解析參加及未參加自強活動的大學生的前政治態度。
第三章探討兩組受試學生的後政治態度，以描述性統計解析第二次問卷調查反應出來的政治態度。
第四章比較兩組受試學生在兩次測驗時反應出來的態度，在做過橫的及縱的比較之後，提出幾個方向探討比較的結果。
第五章分析大學生參加自強活動的實際情況，並探討各類別及各項活動內容與政治態度改變的關係。
第六章為結論，除扼要敍述本研究的分析結果及發現外，並進而討論結果的意涵，提出建議，以供研究政治社會化者及救國團參考。
