提要內容
本研究目的有二: (一)探討學者有關父母與子女性別角色關係的理論，及實徵研究。(二)以國中學生為對象驗證上述研究結果，提供國人教育、研究等方面的參考。根據上述目的，待答問題有二: (一)父母教養態度當中那些方面與國中生的性別角色有關?(二)父母性別角色當中那些與國中生的性別角色有關?
研究對象為:台北市六所國中二年級701名學生，男生342名、女生359名。測量工具為: (一)簡茂發(民67)編訂的父母親的教養方式問卷;(二)林邦傑(民70)修訂的性別角色量表，後者並經筆者修改指導語後，測學生知覺的父母性別角色。由於研究對象的不同，本研究另以國中二年級學生取得父母教養方式問卷，及父母性別角色量表的重測信度。研究採班級為單位的施測方式，分兩次實施。第一次施以學生性別角色量表，及基本資料;第二次施以父母性別角色量表，及父母親的教養方式問卷。
研究中主要使用:變異數分析，逐步迴歸分析等統計方法。
研究發現:
(一)父母的教養態度:1.父母的「高關懷」可阻止異性別子女的負性男性特質。2.父親的「高權威」可促進女生的正性女性特質。
(二)父母的性別角色:1.子女大部份與同性別父母性別角色有密切關係。2.父母性別角色變項對女生的解釋力大於男生。
(三)就上述兩類變項比較，父母的性別角色解釋力遠大於教養態度。
(四)男生性別角色的形成似乎比女生複雜，僅就社會學習理論不能完全解釋之。女生則較支持社會學習論的觀點。
根據上述的研究結果，本研究提出的建議如下:
(一)教育方面
父母無論在管教態度，或者性別角色均應抱持比較彈性的態度。親職教育應重視性別角色這一課題。
(二)研究方面
1.宜進一步以父母自陳、子女知覺兩相參照蒐集研究資料。
2.宜進一步澄清「關懷」、「權威」概念上是否獨立的問題。
3.宜進一步探討性別角色觀察學習的過程。
4.可朝社會文化的其他因素探討負性女性特質的形成。
5.可進一步探討父母教養態度與本身性別角色的交互作用。
6.或可處理生理性成熟與國中生性別角色的關係。
7.或擴展及國中三個年級學生為研究對象。
