Kenya has been striving to improve its nations for many years and has succeeded in becoming one of the strongest nations in Eastern Africa. One of the significant avenues to this achievement was through diplomatic relations which has gained them many benefits, improved national security from the United States and receiving infrastructure from China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). The trend of African diplomacy in recent years has been to seek more cooperation with China so as the BRI and other opportunities offer more for their country. However, it seems that the hearts and minds of Kenyans are torn between which nation to trust to bring them towards better development. This research seeks to analyze the nation of Kenya at three different levels, government, scholar, and citizen, to better understand the biases and opinions of Kenyans on the topic of global superpowers. The goal is to identify which nation may be Kenya’s true favorite partner and most probable ally in its journey to becoming a developed nation. While Kenya still seeks to develop strong bonds with both nations, it is clear from the results that the benefits and loyalty of the PRC have given them an edge in winning over Kenyan favor.
