Following the dissolution of Yugoslavia, Serbia, as a post-conflict society, faces profound challenges in national-building. This study examines how Serbia, during Aleksandar Vučić's tenure (2014-2025), instrumentalize Kosovo myth, Yugo-nostalgia, and Europeanization strategies throughout official discourses, media narratives, and national ceremonies, thereby building a national identity that serves both internal mobilization and external manipulations. By employing social constructionism, politics of memory, and critical discourse analysis, this study integrates historical context with policy texts while focusing on Yugo-nostalgia and Kosovo myth—two factors that profoundly shaped contemporary Serbian national identity. This study also investigates how Vučić and his ruling Serbian Progressive Party reinterpret historical symbols, wartime memories, and national myths after coming to power to consolidate its legitimacy and shape collective identity. The findings of this study reveal that the Vučić regime does not simply perpetuate radical nationalism that was put into practice before his coming of power, but develops a highly strategic dual-track narrative model: domestically, it emphasizes the Kosovo myth as the origin of Serbian national identity and collective nostalgia for the stability and prosperity of the Yugoslav era; internationally, it demonstrates commitment to institutional reforms and economic modernization in cooperation with EU, while maintaining the constitutional assertion of Kosovo's sovereignty as part of Serbia. This study further argues that while this national identity manipulation strategy has indeed enhanced flexibility on negotiations and stabilized the regime for a certain period of time, significant risks also lies within. Amid stalled negotiations between Serbia and Kosovo, the uncertainty of EU accession, and rising domestic anti-government movements, Vučić's national narratives face challenges from the society and younger generations. Lastly, this study concludes that future development of Serbian national identity is in need of new directions beyond the current narratives of Vučić and the Progressive Party in order to enhance its stability and long-term sustainability.
