論文提要內容：
成本一直是國內中小企業引進國外大型MRP系統之障礙，而國內亦缺乏一套經濟型的MRP系統，因此本論文嚐試在個人電腦上來發展一套完整且經濟的中文MRP系統，以幫助中小企業業者解決所面對的生產與物管難題。
本研究根據MRP的理論架構，再配合國外大型系統的設計邏輯，來建立本系統，本系統可分為底下三個模組：
1. 產品結構系統(Bill of Material System, BMS)
2. 存貨控制系統(Inventory Control System, ICS)
3. 物料需求計劃(Material Requirement Planning, MRP)
產品用料清單正確的記錄與存貨數量準確的控制，是實施MRP成功的基礎，因此BMS與ICS模組乃是基礎作業，以支援MRP模組的順利實施。
本研究以供給和需求的觀念來解釋本系統之運作流程，並提出另外的檔案結構設計技術，以利在個人電腦上MRP之發展。
本研究之預期貢獻主要為 (1)發展一套完整且能為國內中小企業所接受實施的中文MRP系統； (2)建立在個人電腦上發展MRP之軟體技術； (3)首先嚐試以DBASE III PLUS此種關連式資料庫語言來發展MRP系統； (4)提供國內與生產有關的人員，一套可實際操作演練的MRP系統。
