This thesis presents a comprehensive business plan and strategic analysis for establishing a premium pipe jacking equipment rental enterprise targeting Taiwan’s rapidly growing infrastructure sector. The core motivation arises from urban densification, evolving regulatory frameworks, and the increased need for sustainable underground pipeline solutions in water, wastewater, and utility projects. Traditional open-cut methods are increasingly impractical in densely populated or environmentally sensitive areas. In contrast, trenchless pipe jacking provides a minimally invasive alternative, significantly reducing surface disruption and project risk.
The study begins with an in-depth industry background and market need analysis, highlighting Taiwan’s ongoing government investments in urban water reclamation, sewer system modernization, and resilient power/utility infrastructure. The thesis identifies the primary market drivers: stringent ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) requirements, public health mandates, and the expansion of industrial and municipal pipeline projects. These conditions have created a sustained demand for advanced trenchless construction methods, particularly for mixed-ground and complex geological environments where traditional equipment proves insufficient.
The business model is built around the rental of state-of-the-art AVN-series micro tunneling machines, offering equipment uniquely configured to navigate Taiwan’s challenging subsurface conditions. Strategic advantages include the integration of IoT telemetry, predictive maintenance powered by AI, and comprehensive service packages bundling logistics, certified operators, and on-site technical support. By offering specialized machines for varying pipe diameters (AVN400, AVN500, AVN600), the company meets the most prevalent needs in public and industrial infrastructure while maximizing asset utilization and operational flexibility.
Market segmentation focuses on high-value projects, such as Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) and Public-Private Partnership (PPP) initiatives. The sales and marketing strategy leverages sector specialization, early bid engagement, digital outreach, and strong industry alliances. The enterprise’s competitive advantage is further enhanced by substantial capital barriers to entry, high operational complexity, and first-mover reputation in Taiwan’s mixed-ground rental segment.
In conclusion, the proposed business not only fulfills a critical market gap in Taiwan’s infrastructure modernization but also offers a blueprint for sustainable and scalable growth in Asia’s evolving trenchless construction market. By combining advanced engineering, digital innovation, and a comprehensive service ethos, the company is positioned to drive industry standards, capture significant market share, and deliver lasting value to stakeholders across the public and private sectors.
