  • This study examined the relationship between perceived micromanagement and employee productivity, as well as the moderating role of generational group in this relationship. Drawing on leadership and organizational behavior literature, the study investigated whether excessive managerial control and close supervision negatively influence employees’ self-reported productivity and whether this relationship differs between Millennials and Generation Z employees. The findings revealed that perceived micromanagement did not significantly predict employee productivity. In addition, the generational group did not significantly moderate the relationship between micromanagement and employee productivity. Consequently, the hypotheses were not supported. However, the study identified a moderate and statistically significant negative relationship between micromanagement and employee autonomy, suggesting that employees who experienced higher levels of managerial control tended to report lower levels of workplace autonomy. The study contributes to the existing literature by examining micromanagement within a generational framework and by highlighting the importance of autonomy and contextual workplace factors in understanding employees’ responses to managerial behavior.
