本研究延伸了Feenstra and Hanson (1996)的模型,利用北國資本流入南國而使北國將中間財外包給南國生產的機制,討論資本在能或不能自由跨國移動的條件下對工薪差距、外包活動以及國際投資的影響,並比較兩者的異同。由本研究的結果可知,不論資本是否能跨國移動,國際投資與外包活動皆為互補關係,因此若北國資本流入南國,將促使北國將技術較不密集的產品外包給南國生產,並擴大兩國的工薪差距。此外本研究也探討了國際投資對社會福利的影響,不論資本是否能自由跨國移動,國際投資將提升南國的社會福利,然而對北國的社會福利影響在資本可以自由跨國移動的情況下,將降低北國的社會福利;在資本不能自由跨國移動的情況下的影響則不確定。
